Key steps for Admissions

Register online to receive information about applying to LaSWAP and your Open Evening invitation.

Click on the how to apply section of the website and follow the instructions to register. Please note that this is not your application. You will be sent an application form through the post after Open Evening.

Use the what to study section to gain information about LaSWAP and the pathways that we offer. Each has different entry criteria to suit your needs. Course descriptions for every subject course provide information to help you consider what would suit you. They can be found in the what to study section.

As well as the pathway entry criteria, make sure you check the specific GCSE entry requirements for the courses you wish to study. New specifications are due out during this year, so don’t forget to check again in March.

Open Evening

You will receive an invitation through the post at the beginning of November.

Make sure you keep this safe and bring the invitation with you to Open Evening. If you do not receive an invitation, please contact the LaSWAP office.

Attend Open Evening

You will be able to talk to teachers and students to ask questions about the subject courses you are interested in studying. You will also be able to hear the Headteachers explain about LaSWAP and its uniqueness.

Complete and submit your application form by December.

After the Open Evening, complete your application form and return it to the LaSWAP Office by December. It is important that you meet this deadline. A special post box will be on the William Ellis gate. We have over 1200 applications. Any forms which arrive after this date will be marked as late. Where courses applied for become oversubscribed, late applications will be put on a waiting list.

Attend one of the meetings in February or March to discuss your subject choices at LaSWAP. The meetings are after school on either February or March.

You will be sent an appointment to come in and discuss you application and the courses you wish to follow with a member of the LaSWAP team. It is important to attend this meeting as it gives you a chance to ensure that you are making sensible decisions about your future. If you do not receive an appointment by March, it is vital that you contact the LaSWAP Office and let us know.

You will receive a conditional offer after the meeting.

The offer is conditional on you meeting the GCSE entry requirements for your pathway and course subjects. Keep it safe. Good luck in your exams.

Taster Day

Attend in June.

You will be sent an invitation to the taster day. During the day you will be given the chance to take part in some taster lessons and the enrichment fayre. You will also be given summer assignments to be completed over the summer and submitted in your first lesson. If you do not receive an invitation, please contact the LaSWAP office.

Attend an enrolment meeting after you receive your GCSE results to finalise your choices at LaSWAP.

You will receive an appointment time to attend a meeting where you will discuss your subject choices with a member of the LaSWAP team and be formally enrolled into LaSWAP. These meetings will take place in the last week of August/first week of September. It is expected that you are available during this time to ensure that you can choose the subjects you want before they are closed. If you do not receive an invitation to a meeting, please contact the LaSWAP Office.
